Today the H2O team headed to Pastor Sossy’s church to teach the Maasai midwives Helping Mothers Survive. Overall it was a fantastic training day, with all 17 women successfully completing the course. Tomorrow we will head back to complete the Helping Babies Breathe training. In addition to teaching, a few of us could briefly visit the Maasai market and stop by a welding/ mechanic shop where four boys are being sponsored by one of our teammates from Stoughton, WI. Each of the boys is financially supported to learn a trade to support their families and eventually go out on their own to have their own businesses. Their training lasts approximately one year in length and is not curriculum based but instead hands-on, working with local shops in the community that are assisting in their training processes.

We will teach at the church for the next two days, with graduation scheduled for Saturday afternoon. We are so grateful to our wonderful translators who are helping us translate from English to Swahili to Maasai, in order to make this training possible!
